Every 4thof July we celebrate our independence, but what does independence mean? It means, not ruled, controlled
or supported by others. So, if business has to outsource many jobs, are we really independent? Now, let’s look at the
definition of economy- (a system of producing and consuming wealth). We often hear words like bail out, jump-start and stimulus
associated with it. Bailing out a boat does not fix the hole that let the water in. Jump-starting a car does not fix the issue
of the dead battery. A stimulant may make you feel good for a while, but eventually you will crash. Tell me we are not just
drugging our economy! We have to find the source of the problem, fix it, and stay away from the bad habits that only make
things worse. America is responsible for our economy and our government will not be able to fix it by themselves.
Many Americans
think that most other Americans do not care. I used to think the same thing, and then I asked myself why. I came to realize
that it is not that they don’t care, they just have not been shown how, or been told why. Those are things that a real
leader does, and we have not had one for a long time. If you show them how, and tell them why, Americans will care.
When companies replace jobs with technology they are able to give themselves raises. This is incentive for doing the wrong
thing, and there is nothing to stop this from getting out of control. Should a handful of people collect all of a company’s
profit? When this occurs, the people should have the right to know so that they can make their purchases with companies that
have the common people in mind.
Society in general finds it hard to think of technology as a bad thing, but it is what we make of it. When it makes life easier
people tend to see it as only a good thing. They enjoy the luxuries and conveniences of it every day. How could it possibly
be a bad thing? The speed in which technology grows is driven by competition and it is changing almost daily. Our livelihoods
in sharp contrast are much more fragile. We rely on holding down jobs for 20-35 years in order to retire. If something were
invented that made your job easier so one person could do the work that was once done by five or even twenty people, why wouldn't
a business, which is always in competition, start using it right away? If it did, what happens to the others? What if they
had 15 years invested? Jobs are created at a much slower pace than they are being eliminated because businesses are out to
make money not pay more employees. Can society as a whole manage a situation of such importance? Let's gauge society really
quick. One average professional athlete, that we pay to watch, makes the same amount per year as 50 police officers, 50 firefighters,
62 nurses and 63 teachers all together. Not to blame the athlete, but which would a city be better off with,
one entertainer who isn't even guaranteed to be healthy enough to perform to standard, or 225 people who are concerned for
others well being working almost every day?
Sure, sports generate a lot of money for the community, but we go because we love the game and it has nothing to do with how
much the athletes make, although if the tickets were not so expensive and prices so high, many would be able to go more
often and spend more money in the community. To their credit, some of the athletes spend a portion of their time, money, or
both to help charities. They should be commended and I hope they continue. The point of the whole argument is that we value
entertainment more than a lot of things that are much more important. So maybe your kids are not getting enough attention
in school, maybe somebody's mother waited four hours in the emergency room, maybe the store around the corner was robbed last
night and they never caught the person, don't complain, we can get a guy for 5 years and pay him $80 million so
he can help our team win. If you are going to the games that money is coming from you. We don't have to sacrifice
our entertainment. (I still go to some games myself) We could learn to control entertainment so that it helps us.The
answer to the original question is no, we cannot manage it without help.
In ra-50 it states, "when deemed not absolutely necessary". The purpose of this is to control the speed of
jobs being lost until the jobs being created can catch up. When a new technology that could eliminate a large number of jobs
is introduced it would be deemed unnecessary so that it affects a company's score when they first begin using it. This is
to deter them from laying off so many workers until more jobs can be created. Then the restriction can be lifted from that
particular technology and it would no longer affect the score.
It is sad when there are people who are willing to die for our Country and surrender their own freedom for
others that cannot live for it and yet boast about it.
Americans
have many cares, some of them great and some small.
Caring about America first, is how we can care for them all!
The human race is not one that can be won.
Those who emphasize the hasty nature of the race will indeed finish first, but those who emphasize humanity will continue
on!
A nations citizens can carry a nation,
further than a nation can carry its citizens!
